Conference Weekend

Conference was great to listen to, as always. I was very interested in what kind of theme would be talked about & it didn't take long to figure one out. Times have been hard & people have been stressed, but our church leaders are so good to keep us positive & reassure us that as long as we continue to live as we are taught then things will be ok. Heavenly Father knows of our plan & will guide us down that path--we just need to do our part & stay in touch with the promptings we receive. I loved the announcement of the temple going in Rome, Italy--I am so happy for the people in that area. They have been in the Swiss Temple district so it will be wonderful for them to have one so much closer. Jake made a comment that we will have to go back there when it's done. No complaint from me!! It took me a little while to realize the announcement of the Kansas City Temple was in Missouri. I just assumed it was in Kansas. It makes you wonder about the signs of the times.
Conference weekend is so nice to have the kids home & to relax in our home as we listen to the church leaders. I always look forward to it. I somehow forget, however, that my kids love to make forts with every blanket, pillow & chair they can find in the house & then bring as much as they can into the forts to keep them entertained. These forts last for 2 days & it drives me crazy to have chaos in our main living area for that long. I keep telling myself that I should be happy to see them so creative and enjoying themselves, but my desire to have control & order in my house starts to eat away at me. I can't wait to get everything put away & have my clean house back again.
I did try to do some fun things with my kids over the weekend. I made a delicious french toast recipe for Sunday breakfast & the family loved it. It was easy & oh so good!! I was gone during the afternoon session visiting my sister that just had her baby, so Jake & Brittany made some pie dough for the girls to play with like playdough. They loved that, too, & I'm sure they ate way more than they should have. I need to remember that these times are short & they have so much more fun when we spend time together playing. I worry way too much about some of my responsibilities & I need the constant reminder to play a little more & worry a little less.
