Carving Pumpkins--not for me

Jake is such a great dad!! He wanted to carve pumpkins tonight & I told him "great, you can do it". I am not one who likes to carve pumpkins. I will watch, but I really don't care to be involved. Well, like every other year, Jake took on the task of helping all 5 girls clean out & carve their pumpkins. He does a great job with them & stays patient through the whole thing. The girls are funny. They really try to get into the whole carving ideas. They sometimes come up with too elaborate carvings for Jake (Allie wanted a princess holding a flower). She settled for a "mad face". They each have to draw out their idea on paper so Jake can understand what they want & then he begins. He even uses his drill to do some of the designs. The girls all seem to enjoy this tradition & I'm thrilled I have a husband who enjoys it, too.

Everyone hard at work getting their pumpkins all cleaned out. They think it's so much fun!

This is the look Brooklyn would give us after touching the slimy seeds. She definitely didn't care to do it more than once. She must be my daughter. =)

Brooklyn wanted me to see that all the seeds were gone. She had a hard time understanding the purpose of this activity.

Brooklyn decided riding her Skitter was much more fun than touching the pumpkins. You can tell by the facial expressions.

I have other children that couldn't get enough slimy stuff in their hands. They loved it!

Jake with his drill adding some final touches. He is always good at figuring out how to do or fix things.

Allie's "mad face", Brittany's "really big mouse", & Brooklyn's baby mouse

Nicole's cat and Melissa's flower pumpkins.

We finished the night with some homemade donuts--thanks, Lisa, for the recipe. So easy, so good & so unhealthy--the best kind of desserts, right?

I'm glad to hear someone else doesn't like carving pumpkins. And since my kids could care less, I don't think we are going to do it this year. Jake's great with your girls! I did fix my blog to make you married to Jake instead of Joe! Duh me! :)

Can Jake be hired out?? He does an amazing job on the pumpkins. Of course my boys would probably ask for Pokemon, spiderman or batman

Okay Becca, I know this post is about pumpkin carving, but what I want to talk about is your spotless garage. I bet there isen't even a stray pumpkin seed to be found in there. Great jack-o-lanterns!

Okay, so I'm glad to know that the clean garage is hereditary. As for how to group the photos: Download a program from google called picasa (it's free). In this program you can create a photo collage - a great way to store your photos on your pc as well. Hope that helps. Let me know. J. http://picasa.google.com/
