MORE CANDY!!

Halloween is so fun for my kids. They get so excited to get all dressed up & then spend as much time as we will let them collecting candy. This year was no exception. Some of my kids even started dressing up in costumes days before Halloween was here. The day was a little different cause the kids didn't have school on Halloween. We didn't have a lot going on until later in the day. I made some Halloween cookies & my kids along with the neighbor kids ate them up in a hurry. We continued with a tradition I grew up doing by having taco soup & corn bread for dinner. YUM! As soon as dinner was over, they ran to put on their costumes & I was busy putting them together. We finally got out the door & enjoyed the great weather for the next 1 1/2 hours walking around the neighborhood. Brooklyn was so fun to watch. She really had no idea what trick or treating was, but once she figured out she got free candy just by walking to a door & saying "trick or treat" she couldn't believe it. After every door, she would come running down the driveway saying "more candy, more candy!!" She clutched on to her bag the whole night & had no interest in letting go. Even when we got home, we tried to help her dump it out onto the floor & she was afraid we were taking it away from her.
The next tradition is once the kids are done trick or treating, they come home & pick out the candy they want & try to fit it into a sandwich size bag (snack size for Brooke & Allie). Then, they put the rest of their candy back into the Halloween bag & set it outside their door. During the night, the Halloween Ghost comes, takes their candy & then leaves a toy or book in place of the candy. The kids are so excited in the morning to see what they get & are totally satisfied with the amount of candy they have for themselves. It's a tradition that has worked well for our family & hopefully it will continue for years to come. =)
