Andrew & Kelli's Wedding

While we were in Utah for Christmas Break, Jake & I flew down to Newport Beach for my youngest brother's wedding. Jake's sisters & in-laws were kind enough to watch our kids for us while we took this quick trip--and it was quick. We flew down Thurs. evening & flew back Fri. evening. We were there long enough to see the wedding, eat at the luncheon, do a quick shopping trip at Steve & Barry's & then head back to the airport. It was a great trip except for the flight down. Since the flu had been going around, of course, I would have to get it while on my way to the wedding. I was thinking all week that I felt it coming on, but if I kept eating the symptoms would stop. Weird, I know. As we headed to the airport in SLC I was not feeling so well so I started eating & drinking. As time went on, that trick didn't work anymore. The first flight to Vegas wasn't so bad, but on the flight into Orange County I wasn't so lucky. As we decended to the airport I had to use one of those barf bags. I was so embarrassed! I was sitting by the window & Jake was next to me, so he leaned forward to no one could see me. I was afraid the man in front of me could hear me, but Jake said he couldn't hear anything & fortunatly the plane noise is pretty loud. After I got it all out, I sealed up the bag & carried it off the plane to the nearest garbage. That was a first for me!! Amazingly enough, I felt great after that & didn't have any more problems. I was so grateful cause I was worried about being able to go to the wedding & if I was there, what do you do if you are feeling sick during the ceremony & need to leave the room? I'm so glad I didn't have to find out. The wedding was wonderful and the Newport Beach Temple is absolutely beautiful!! The whole area down there is beautiful! Kelli looked gorgeous & Andrew was so happy. I am happy for both of the them & wish only the best to them in the years to come.

Thoughts that remind me of what's important...

2/15--I told Brooklyn that I was going to eat her up & she responded "No mommy, I'm not yummy!"

12/1--We took the kids to the zoo & Brooklyn loved it. She can't stop talking about it & tells us everyday she wants to go to the zoo someday. We ask her what she wants to see & she tells us "monkeys, penguins, tigers, Jiffys...". We have a bird at home named Jiffy, but I couldn't figure out why she wanted to go to the zoo & see him. I finally realized that she thinks the birds she saw at the zoo are called Jiffys. I know she knows the word bird so I haven't figured out why she calls the birds at the zoo Jiffys. Maybe they looked similar. Anyway, it's cute how she put the two together.

11/3--I was in Target today walking through the kids clothes area. Brooklyn saw a Hannah Montana shirt & called out "Hannah Montana!". Next thing I know she is singing "Best of Both Worlds" song by Hannah Montana. I just started laughing. She's not even 2 & knows this pop hit. She learns so much from her older sisters.

9/13--Today, Allie was singing "Happy Birthday" to me. She likes to make up her own words & sang "happy birthday to you. You are older than the sun." I stopped her right then & said "What?". I began laughing, as did Jake, & then Allie started to a little bit. I don't think she really knew what she was saying, but it made me wonder if she really thought I was that old.

7/15--Whenever I call Brooklyn she always responds saying "Minute!". I don't know how she learned that, but I don't always like my 1 year old telling me to wait. It gave me a perspective to what my kids hear me say all the time & how it may make them feel.

5/13--At breakfast, Allie plugged her nose & said "My nose stinks". I asked what it smelled like & she said "poop". Funny how she thought it was her nose & not her diaper.

4/23--Allie is playing a game on the computer & having lots of fun. She calls to Nicole & says "Nicole, come see. I am very good at this". Funny thing is she is playing it totally wrong & keeps losing. She has amazing confidence & just keeps trying. Good for you, Allie!!

4/12--Allie was singing at the top of her lungs to Brooklyn somehow thinking no one else could hear her since we weren't in the same room. She sang to the tune of "Follow the Prophet", but she changed the words to "Follow the Priesthood". I guess that works, too.

3/25--Nicole informed me while we were out whale watching that "the dolphin is my favorite mammal". I am impressed that she knows the word "mammal", but even more so that she knows a dolphin is a mammal.

3/24--We are at Grammie's house & Jake asked Allie if she was ready for her bath. She told him she didn't want to take a bath with the airplanes on. We were kind of puzzled by her response & then it clicked--Grammie's bathtub is a jetted tub & she didn't want the "jets" on. Airplane-Jet--same thing, right?

3/15--Allie loves to say the prayer for the family. She does a great job & it's fun to hear how she'll phrase her sentences. Here's her latest cute quote..."bless the people in Iraq so they can be safe. Bless our prophet so he can be super safe". How cute she wants our prophet to be "super safe"!! It's like he's a super hero to her--a very important man.

2/23--Allie's primary teacher got released last Sunday, so we had been explaining all week that she wouldn't be her teacher anymore. We were talking about it again, last night, and asked Allie if she knew why her teacher wouldn't be there anymore. She told us "because she is tired of telling us stories". I don't know how that idea got in her head. I don't remember saying anything like that. You never know how a child will interpret something you say.

January 2008--Jake was driving in the car with Allie. He asked her what she needed to do when she got home to get clean. She answered "Get baptized"

January 2008--Brittany has commented several times on how she just hasn't found a best friend at school this year. We would talk to her often about it, but she just never clicked with anyone. We were talking to her about it again one day & she told us that she knew a best friend was important & she wanted to take her time to find a friend that would be a good example to her so that's why she didn't have a best friend yet. I love my deep thinker, Brittany
